What about derby caught your attention? When did you first start playing?

I have skated since I was approx 5 and about 13 years ago, derby gave me a chance to get back on skates and have fun and be a PART of a team

What was that “one moment” when you knew playing derby was the right thing for you?

OMG, not sure. I really started to just be happy to be active and in skates, but one day it just became more than just fun. There was a time it all just "clicked".

What’s something you’ve learned playing derby that has translated into another part of your life?

Hmmmmm....

Do you have a favorite & a least favorite position? Can you elaborate?

Blocker all day!

What do you do to get ready for a bout?

Music!

What advice would you give to someone thinking about playing derby?

Try it! Whatever you think your ability is, if it interests you-try it, it may be the next best thing for you.

Working (unfortunateely) . I am sincerely committed to my job and my community. With my family and friends.

Do you have a derby mentor?

Not really. I came back to derby because of Panik (Nikki)  and seeing her passion for her new sport

What keeps you motivated to keep playing when things get tough?

Coffee? Lol. The joy of being on skates. Knowing there is always a new day tomorrow

What’s your favorite part of skating with VCDD?

The community (teammates)
